WHAT CAN PARENTS DO TO HELP THEIR PRESCHOOLER?
1.
Know
what’s going on! Be on time, and don’t miss school. Check the calendar every day, read & take
note of upcoming events & instructions. wizkidzpreschool.blogspot.com
2.
Go
through your kids back-pack every day with them! Look at their work, display it, praise
them, ask about it, allow them tell you want they’ve learned.
3.
Reinforce
their learning at home! Look for
ways to review the lessons all week with them in the things they do. Point out colors, shapes, letters, sounds,
patterns and numbers in their daily routines, etc.
4.
Help them
practice what they are learning! Let
them show you how they trace, color and write.
Let them tell the family the stories they’ve heard and sing the songs
they are learning.
Your child will try to learn and do the following:
·
Recognize letters and numbers in an out of
sequence.
·
Trace them and write them, both with upper and
lower case letters, especially their name.
·
Know the sounds the letters makes & name several
words that begin with or have the letter in it.
They will also try to sound out some words.
·
Count to 20+ and know what less and more is and
how to figure some basic addition and subtraction.
·
Know the names for colors and what happens when
you mix the primary colors.
·
Know basic geometric shapes, and maybe how to
draw them.
·
Know and understand many opposites.
·
Know how to use scissors, hold a pencil
correctly, and color within the lines.
·
Learn their parent’s names, their phone number
and their home address. (They need a lot
of help!)
·
Learn how to recognize patterns and can make a
pattern using various materials.
·
Put puzzles together and use various
manipulatives to make things.
·
Learn stories and will be able to answer
questions about them and repeat them.
·
Memorize lyrics of songs and do actions and
dance moves.
·
Play group games, take turns, share and know
they can’t always be first etc.
